Positions on school boards in towns in New Jersey are unpaid, but you have the chance to influence thousands of students' education.

You also help determine how your tax dollars are spent. The school board votes on the school budget each spring. Along with budgets from the county and city, the school budget is factored into the quarterly property taxes a Hoboken resident pays.

There will be a drawing for ballot positions on Aug. 12 at 3 p.m.
