$5,000 in Jewelry Stolen from Hoboken Gym

More than $5,000 in jewelry was stolen from a closed locker at Club H on Sunday around 1:30 p.m., police said. 

A 43-year-old Jersey City man arrived at the gym around 12:30 for a work out, he told police. Before he started his routine, he locked his belongings inside his locker. 

When the man returned to locker number 32 about an hour later, he noticed that the locker wasn't completely closed, police said. The man's wallet with driver's licence and credit cards was stolen, as well as a gold necklace with a cross (worth $5,000) and a $200 watch, police said. 

Another man, a 28-year-old Hobokenite, had arrived at the gym around 12:15 and put his stuff in locker 29, police said. While his locker was broken into as well—the locker's door was damaged—nothing was missing, police said.

Around 1:20 a maintenance employee of the gym returned towels to the men's dressing room, police said. The man, however, told police that he hadn't noticed that the lockers had been opened and that there was nobody in the locker room when he was there.

I'ts unknown how the lockers were opened. No arrests were made.
