All Saints Day School's Eighth Grade Graduates

Congrats to the five students who are moving on to high school!

For the first time since its existence, the All Saints Episcopal Day School an eighth grade class graduated on Tuesday.

The ceremony honored the accomplishments of the five members of the Class of 2012. All Saints was founded as a small pre-school in 1985. Now it is a full fledged elementary school.

“Our Eighth Graders have demonstrated again and again that the mission of our school, combining academic excellence and social responsibility, yields young adults who are ready to build a better future for all,” said Jill Singleton, the All Saints Head of School in a press release about the graduation. “Twenty-seven years ago a group of founding parents took a leap of faith and made a special commitment to this school’s unique mission, and these graduating Eighth Graders are truly a fulfillment of that commitment.”

Students from the first graduating class have been accepted into many of the area’s most elite high schools, the school's head announced, including Convent of the Sacred Heart, Nightingale-Bamford and the Calhoun School.

The school started off 27 years ago, with 16 preschool students and has grown significantly since. In 1997 the school's first fourth grade class graduated. In 2008 a middle school was added.

The middle school also launched an eighth grade student exchange with Ecuador, hosting five students for 10 days and then traveling to Quito to live with host families.

"Our Eighth Grade class demonstrates what you get when you blend personal determination, a servant heart, a love of learning, environmental awareness and a belief that we are all related,” Singleton said. “These are young adults with a boundless desire to learn, and the determination to make a difference.”
