NORTH JERSEY — Twelve men from around the country will compete on the Hoboken waterfront this Thursday in the contest formerly known as "Sinatra Idol."

One man from Little Ferry, two from Hoboken, one from Morris County, one from Middlesex, and the rest from other states will compete to see who's judged to be the most Frank.

Frank Sinatra was born in 1915 while his family was living at 415 Monroe St. in Hoboken, and lived there until he was 12. He sang his way to fame, leaving town in 1939 when he married his first wife, Nancy. His parents remained in town (see their Census card and house here). Hoboken has run its Sinatra contest for many years, but had to change the name from "Sinatra Idol" after the producers of "American Idol" threatened a lawsuit in 2018.

This year's contest will take place June 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Sinatra Park ampitheater, on the central waterfront.
