Hoboken to Receive Grant Extension to Buy Southwest Park

The city will have an extra year to spend $3 million on a park in the southwest. 

On Tuesday afternoon, the Hudson County Board of Freeholders were scheduled to vote on granting the city an extension. The initial deadline was later this month. 

"The extension will be granted," Hudson County Freeholder Anthony Romano said in a quick phone chat on Tuesday. 

The grant money will be used to purchase a park in the southwestern part of town. The city, however, 

, specifically to purchase an acre of land in the Southwest. The property in question is currently a surface parking lot across the street from the
