Man Punches Passing Cab Driver In Face
Late night assault as cabbie tells couple he can't pick them up.

A 38-year-old taxi driver was assaulted early Sunday, police said.
The driver, who is from Jersey City but operates a Hoboken cab, told police that he saw a couple as he approached Seventh and Clinton streets early Sunday morning. When the people approached him, the driver—who already had a customer on the back seat—told the couple he couldn't pick them up, according to police reports.
While the taxi slowly drove past the couple, the man punched the driver in the face, police said.

The driver immediately sped off, police said, and when he turned around to the area the couple had walked off in an unknown direction. The taxi driver told police that the alleged assaulter had dark hair, was about 6 feet tall and heavy set. The taxi driver wasn't able to describe the woman.
No arrests were made and the uptown establishment where the couple had had dinner said there was no surveillance footage of them available, according to reports.
