City Amends Salary Ordinance

Some new titles were added on Wednesday night.

The city council officially added two new titles to the city's salary ordinance during Wednesday night's meeting.

The job of assistant Business Administrator was added, with a salary range between $75,000 and $125,000.

Also added to the salary ordinance—the official document that determines the titles and salary ranges of all municipal employees—is the job of code enforcement officer at the Hoboken Parking Utility, with a salary between $30,000 and $50,000.

The city council was—as on most topics—divided on the issue.

"In the past it’s been done well by one individual," said Third Ward Councilman Michael Russo on Wednesday night about the city hiring an assistant BA.

"There is a lot more work than in previous years," said Fifth Ward Councilman Peter Cunningham.

The individuals have already been hired, and their salaries have been adopted in this year's budget.
