
The Connors School in Hoboken is among 20 school construction projects that will meet the needs of students in some of the state’s neediest districts, according to an announcement by Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday.
The Connors School has been in dire need of construction and repairs for multiple years. , after the state's School Development Authority determined that the plan——was not complete.
Now, the SDA has recognized the Connors School "in serious deficiency and in need of rehabilitation." The project is "set to advance in 2012," according a press release from the governor's office.

It's still unclear how much funding will go to the Connors School renovations.
During Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting, the troubled elementary school was also discussed in the form of a report on the school after the state came in for a four-day observation to improve the school's lacking "academic rigor."

The 20 capital projects were divided into three categories: high educational priority needs, high educational priority needs that require further discussions with the District and serious facility deficiencies. The Connors School—together with schools in Trenton, Camden and Orange—falls in that last category.
"This is a long time coming," said Assemblyman Ruben Ramos Jr. in a press release on Wednesday. Two schools in his district are on the list of capital projects for 2012.
"My sincere hope," Ramos said, "is that the funds for this project will be used wisely and efficiently."
