Councilman Wants to Increase Voter Participation (POLL)

A new initiative called "Hoboken Votes" has been created.

Council President Ravinder Bhalla together with Democratic Committeeman Phil Cohen, is launching a new initiative to compel more Hobokenites to vote in local elections.

"The primary purpose of Hoboken Votes is to ensure that as many Hoboken residents as possible are registered to vote so their voices may be heard in the upcoming Presidential Election and in future election for years to come," Bhalla said in an announcement. "As a benchmark, we have set a goal of registering 1,000 new voters between now and the Presidential election."

New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez is also up for reelection in November. There will also be Schoolboard elections on the first Tuesday in November, after being moved from April.
