Eight candidates will be on the ballot in November.
Eight candidates will be fighting for three open seats on the school board in November.
Incumbents Theresa Minutillo and Ruth McAllister will run for reelection on the Kids First slate, together with . Mitchell already served a one-year term on the school board, but lost her seat in April 2011.

Concerned resident Patricia Waiters, who attends most school board and city council meetings, Waiters has never been elected to the Board of Education.
The slate that will be going head-to-head with Kids First, hasn't chosen its name yet, but is comprised of Liz Markevitch, Anthony Oland and Felice Vazquez.

Markevitch ran in 2010 with the Real Results slate and has a daughter at Hoboken High School. Oland, too, ran for the school board before, while Vazquez, a Hoboken resident and a lawyer, is running for the first time.

Currently, the board majority is in the hands of Kids First, which is also backed by Mayor Dawn Zimmer.
