Elysian Charter School Teacher Wins Award

The WTC Tribute Museum honored Joe Golossi.

Joe Golossi, an eighth grade teacher at the Elysian Charter School has been honored by the WTC Tribute Museum for his curriculum on the Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. 

Golossi was among ten teachers nationwide who received the "certificate of merit for creating an exemplary educational project" about 9/11. 

Golossi's curriculum focused on the attacks, through a creative writing curriculum. Students used primary sources and used people's personal experiences when writing the stories.

"I was inspired to create a 9/11 curriculum, due to the fact that it is living, accessible history," Golossi said. His writing assignments, he continued, were about gathering facts through personal connections and first hand accounts. 

"We're proud of Joe's work, and congratulate him on his award," said Elysian Charter School director Harry Laub.
