Father of 9-Year-Old Girl Who Killed Gun Instructor Is High-Profile Hudson County Banker
Alex MacLachlan, the girl's father, manages $1.5 billion for an investment firm. The native Australians moved to North Jersey last year.

The father of the 9-year-old girl who was involved in the accidental shooting of a gun instructor is a high profile banker from Hudson County who manages millions in investment funds.
Alex MacLachlan, 43, moved with his family of five to Hudson County from Australia just a year before, according to reports by MailOnline. The prominent banker was vacationing with his family in Arizona when he made the tragic decision to let his daughter shoot an Uzi that, according to reports from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, was too large for the 9-year-old to handle and “hurt her shoulder.”
MacLachlan manages a fund worth $1.5 billion, MailOnline reports. He received Ivy league degrees from Cornell University and University of Pennsylvania. MacLachlan serves as the Managing Director of Global Resource Masters Fund Limited, a position he has held since 2008, Bloomberg Businessweek reported. MachLaclan, who goes by Alex, has also held the title CEO at Dixon Advisory and Superannuation Services Pty Ltd, Asset Management Arm for the past six years.

Neighbors in the wealthy Syndney suburb where the family used to live told MailOnline that the MachLachlans were “a gorgeous, happy family.”
MacLachlan has not returned to work since the tragic accident at the Bullet and Burgers Adventure shooting range on August 25. Mohave County Sheriff, Jim McCabe, stated to Patch that no charges will be filed regarding the tragic shooting of 39-year-old gun instructor, Charles Vacca.

Last week, the Sherrif’s department released the heartbreaking 911 calls recording the desperate attempts to save the fatally-wounded gun instructor.
“I have a gun range officer that got shot in the head … we’re at Arizona Last Stop,” a breathless male voice said.
Dispatcher: “Is he breathing?”
Caller: “Yes he is, he’s having convulsions. You need to send EMS right away.”
Although Alex MacLachlan and his wife, Allison, have made no comment to the press, the Daily Mail website reported that a female relative, also living in New Jersey, confirmed that the banker’s daughter was involved in the shooting. “But I can’t say anything about it,” she told MailOnline. “It’s just terrible.”
