Final Council Vote Could Make Northwest Park a Reality
On Wednesday night, the city council will once more discuss the issue of eminent domain to try to acquire parkland.

At least six acres of parkland in the Northwestern part of town could become a reality after Wednesday night's council meeting.
The city council will cast its second—and final—vote . On the agenda is an ordinance that would allow the city to acquire two parcels of land and use as a tool during negotiations.
The sites on the agenda are the so-called Pino site on Sixth and Jackson Streets as well as the so-called Henkel site at Thirteenth and Adams Streets. The city has been trying to purchase the latter for a few years now.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer of allowing eminent domain as a way to acquire park space in town. After the council approved the use of eminent domain to buy an acre in the Fourth Ward, , explaining that Wednesday night's ordinance "would give my Administration the tools we need to move forward with the process of potentially acquiring new open space in the Third and Fifth Wards."
