HOBOKEN, NJ — A popular Italian restaurant in central Hoboken said it's closed "until further notice" following a small fire on Tuesday night.

Otto Strada at Eighth Street and Park Avenue placed a sign on its door saying it's closed for now.

A public safety spokesperson said Friday that the fire started in the duct work of a pizza oven due to grease buildup.

"The fire, deemed accidental, was contained to the oven and no injuries were reported," the spokesperson said.

The building was found to be safe by the Hoboken Construction Officer, and no residential tenants were impacted or displaced, officials said.

An inspection of Otto Strada by the Hoboken Health Division determined the restaurant must remain closed until repairs are complete and pass re-inspection, the spokesperson said.

Patch has reached out to the restaurant and will update this story when it's ready to re-open.
