Fireworks Spark Questions In Hoboken And New York. Here's Where They Came From

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Where are the fireworks? Residents of Hoboken, Jersey City, and Manhattan often complain when they hear unexpected fireworks late at night. In fact, dogs have run from their yards and babies have howled after hearing the loud noises.

On Wednesday night, residents on both sides of the Hudson River heard fireworks and wondered what they were for.

As they have each year, the nonprofit Lighthouse/Gift of Life had their annual gala on Wednesday.

The fireworks began around 9:30 p.m., although they were scheduled for 9:45, according to Manhattan's 311 website.
