Thousands of People to Watch July 4th Fireworks from Hoboken

Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to come to Hoboken for the holiday.

Just like the previous few years, Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks will be shown over the Hudson River. And since Hoboken is the place to be, tens of thousands of visitors are expected to come to town.

Below you'll find tips and tricks from the City of Hoboken on how to best navigate the day.

Residents and visitors who drive are advised to expect four hours or more of traffic and delays exiting Hoboken after the fireworks and at least two hour delays to exit municipal parking garages. In addition to delays, the gridlock can create a situation where public safety vehicles cannot effectively respond to emergencies, so the City strongly urges visitors to take mass transit. Options include the PATH, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, NY Waterway ferries, or NJ Transit commuter rail or bus.

Stevens Announcement Concerning July 4th Campus Closure

The Stevens Institute of Technology campus will be closed to the general public on July 4 from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Due to our current summer weekday programs and the number of guests who will be housed on campus during this period, the campus will be filled to capacity.

Hoboken residents are advised to make alternative plans to view the fireworks from one of the many other Hoboken viewing areas along the waterfront.

Thank you for your understanding and have a safe holiday,

Chief Tim Griffin
