HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Emergency workers rushed to a Union City street on Thursday morning after a "gas-like" substance was spotted spraying into the air from a hole, according to reports.

NBC News posted footage of the leak and of a PSE&G worker smashing the street with a sledgehammer. But they reported that the problem was controlled by noon, and people were allowed back into their homes.

The leak occurred near two schools that were running summer classes, said news outlets, and students were sent home for the day. The incident took place near 25th Street and Summit Avenue. More information is here.
