Help Hoboken Win the People's Choice Award for Best Downtown in New Jersey
Hoboken has been nominated for the 2013 People's Choice Award for outstanding downtowns in NJ. Read on to learn how to vote!

Hoboken’s historic downtown has a experienced a renaissance in recent years, with countless new businesses and a new generation of residents choosing to call this city home. That’s why it’s no surprise that the home of Frank Sinatra and the birth place of baseball has been chosen as a finalist by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association in the 2014 People’s Choice Awards for outstanding downtowns in New Jersey.
Click here to vote for Hoboken. The polls close at midnight on Sept. 26. The winner will be announced in October. The other NJ cities who made the finals in this competition are listed below.
“Hoboken has become the fastest-growing city in New Jersey because people want to live in vibrant, walkable, transit-rich communities,” Mayor Dawn Zimmer expressed on the city’s website. “We’re honored to be a finalist in this competition to recognize the great downtowns in New Jersey.”

When the nomination was announced, the American Planning Association noted to Hoboken officials that finalists were chosen based on options for transportation, retention and growth of businesses, community support, ant it’s reputation for excellence outside the community.
In 2010, American Planning Association designated Hoboken’s Washington Street as a ‘Great Street.” In 2013, Hoboken’s South Waterfront was named a Great Place in New Jersey by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association.
