Hoboken High School Students Learn About Mental Health, Wellness At Fair

Hoboken High School students learned about mental health and wellness resources at a fair.

HOBOKEN, NJ — May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Hoboken High School recently ran an outdoor fair so that student could find out about the range of services available — from a group that takes teens on hikes, to counseling centers to support groups for family members of those with mental health issues.

During different timeslots, groups of students headed to the high school athletic fields on Thursday, May 1 to get a healthy snacks, lunch, and learn about the various resources in Hudson County.

Groups involved in the events ranged from Hudson County NAMI to Best Buddies.

Hoboken High School’s School-Based Youth Services Program (SBYSP) ran the Mental Health and Wellness Event.

"All Hoboken High School students participated in meaningful activities focused on mental well-being during their PE periods at Louis M. Taglieri Stadium," a school spokesperson noted. "We’re proud to help break the stigma and build awareness—one station at a time!"

They added, "From healthy snacks to arts & crafts to movement-based wellness, there was something for everyone. Huge thank you to Dr. Kristin Carr and the incredible Student Center team for organizing this impactful day for our student body!"
