
A 49-year-old Hoboken resident was arrested on Friday night for alleged posession of heroin, police said.
According to the police report, "police was patrolling the area, due to the large amount of burglaries in the last month."
Around 10:20 p.m., police witnessed Joseph Rivera entering a building at Fourth and Monroe Streets, where he doesn't live, police said.

The officers waited for a few minutes before Rivera, who is known to the police, came out of the building, police said.
When the officers approached him, Rivera said he was doing construction work in the basement of the building. While talking to the officers, Rivera tried to put his hand in his left coat pocket, police said. Police instructed him to remove his hands from his pockets, according to the reports.

"I didn't do nothing wrong," Rivera told police, according to the report.
Rivera then tried to walk away from the cops, but was stopped by police. Upon further examination, it became clear that Rivera had CDS heroin in his pocket, as well as a cell phone and a pack of matches, police said.
Rivera was arrested and charged with possession of cds herion, police said.
