Hoboken Mayor Appoints Acting Director Of Transportation And Parking

HOBOKEN, NJ — Mayor Ravi Bhalla on Thursday announced the appointment of Gregory Francese as Acting Director of the Department of Transportation and Parking for the City of Hoboken.

Francese, who has served as the City’s Transportation Planner for over seven years, brings extensive experience in sustainable transportation, pedestrian safety, and infrastructure planning. He has played a leading role in key projects including securing Hoboken’s Citi Bike partnership with Lyft, planning Vision Zero safety infrastructure upgrades including the upcoming Sinatra Drive Redesign project, implementing congestion mitigation plans, and building out the City’s on-street electric vehicle charging network, as well as several other efforts to improve, safety, mobility, and connectivity throughout the city.

Additionally, Francese serves on the City’s Vision Zero Task Force, Hudson County Vision Zero Task Force, and the Hoboken Planning Board.

“Greg has been an integral part of our transportation team, and his leadership has helped shape a safer, more accessible Hoboken,” said Mayor Bhalla. “I’m confident that in this role, Greg will continue to deliver on our vision for a more multi-modal and forward-thinking transportation network.”

Francese officially assumed the role today following the departure of Director Steve Weber, who is moving on to pursue other opportunities. Mayor Bhalla thanked Weber for his dedicated service and leadership.

“Steve has been a valued member of my Administration and has overseen a number of important improvements to our streets and within the Department of Transportation and Parking,” said Mayor Bhalla. “His work has made a real difference in the lives of Hoboken community members, and I wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.”
