Pardon Me, Boy, Is That The Hoboken Choo-Choo? NJ Transit Strike To End: See Timing.

Find out when the trains will start running in Hoboken again after the NJ Transit strike ends.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A tentative agreement has been reached in the contract negotiations between NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, officials said, after talks broke down last week. NJ Transit trains stopped running at 12:01 a.m. Friday, but they will resume Tuesday morning, officials announced on Sunday.

The trains will resume with the first regularly scheduled ride on each line, they said.

"Service will resume on Tuesday, May 20, as it takes approximately 24 hours to inspect and prepare tracks, rail cars and other infrastructure before returning to full scheduled service," the rail agency said.

On Sunday night, Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla said, “On behalf of the City of Hoboken, I want to thank NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen for working together to reach an agreement that will restore train service. I’m grateful both parties acted swiftly to avoid prolonged disruption, putting our residents first and demonstrating a shared commitment to public service by minimizing the impact on those who rely on them.”

In the meantime, for Monday, commuters can take ferries, the PATH trains (run by the Port Authority), buses, or the light rail.

Rideshare services may be an option, but Uber and Lyft sent messages saying riders may have to wait longer.
