Hoboken School Holds Thanksgiving Shoe Drive

Hundreds of pairs of shoes will be donated by All Saints School to Soles4Souls, a nonprofit that distributes shoes to the poor worldwide.

The students at All Saints Episcopal Day School in Hoboken are collecting new and gently worn shoes throughout November to help Soles4Souls, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting poverty by collecting and distributing shoes to people in need.

Last year, the school donated 310 pairs of shoes to the program. The annual community service project helps All Saints students learn what it means to be a responsible citizen of the world, as they collect hundreds of shoes to be donated globally through Soles4Souls. The school has participated in this special project since 2010.

“This annual campaign reminds students that each and every one of us can make a difference by sharing what we have with others,” Jill Singleton, Head of the Hoboken School said. “I especially love the event because students often report fond memories connected to the shoes they are giving away, and I can’t help but think those positive thoughts are being shared with the recipient also.”

“Year after year, the students express a sense of awe when they see the display, as well as a sense of pride knowing that they each played a small, but important part,” Robyn Clanton, Upper School Division Head expressed.
