Incoming Hoboken Mayor Picks Chief Of Staff

Hoboken Mayor Emily Jabbour will take office on Jan. 15 and is assembling a staff.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Councilwoman Emily Jabbour, who will become the 40th mayor in the city on Jan. 15, has chosen a chief of staff.

Christian Duffy has spent more than a decade working on political campaigns and in state government, said a release from Jabbour's team. He began his career working for Mayor Dawn Zimmer's re-election campaign in 2013. He also worked on Jabbour's campaign.

“Christian has been a trusted ally and brings a wealth of government and political experience to this position," Jabbour said. "I am confident his presence in City Hall will help move Hoboken forward.”

“Hoboken is where my journey in politics began," Duffy said, "and I’m eager to get to work alongside Mayor-Elect Jabbour to build a City Hall that is more transparent, more collaborative, and more responsive to our residents.”

After receiving his master’s degree in social work from Fordham University, Duffy worked for Zimmer, than around the country, including in Alaska, Nevada, Ohio and Wisconsin. He served as the
Hudson County Political Coordinator on Governor Murphy’s re-election campaign in 2021.

Duffy served as Chief of Staff to both Assemblywoman Annette Quijano and Senator Joseph Cryan before managing both Congressman Rob Menendez's and Congressman Herb Conaway’s campaigns in 2024.

Most recently, he managed the campaign of 21st Dist. Assemblyman Vinnie Kearney, who flipped the district for the Democrats for the first time in over 30 years.
