Jersey City Man Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Boxes from Apartment Building

Hoboken police arrested a 52-year-old Jersey City man on Tuesday around 2:20 p.m. at Fourth and Bloomfield, for alleged burglary and theft, police said. 

Craig Davis was seen exiting 409 Bloomfield St. on Tuesday afternoon, police said, while carrying two black garbage bags. 

In the bags, according to the police report, were two boxes; one from UPS and one from Blackstone shoe box.

When police confronted Davis, he told them he didn't live in the building, according to the report. 

"I saw the boxesin the hallway and wanted to take them," Davis allegedly said, according to the report. When asked why he wanted to take the boxes, police said Davis answered "I was going to see what was in them and try to sell it to taxi drivers."

Davis was placed under arrest and charged with burglary and theft, police said.
