Police: Jersey City Man Stole Aluminum From Construction Site

Hoboken police arrested a 57-year-old Jersey City man on Friday after he allegedly stole aluminum from a construction site with the intention to sell it at a scrap yard, according to police reports. 

Police encountered Jorge Rosaly around Seventh and Madison Streets as he was pushing a cart with a 10-foot aluminum leader in it, police said.

"Due to the amount of aluminum and ," the police report stated, the officer followed Rosaly around the block and stopped him.

When police questioned Rosaly, initially he said he found the aluminum "in the garbage around the corner," according to the report. 

When asked where exactly, Rosaly told police, "around the corner. I can show you."

Rosaly led the officer to a construction site at 616 Monroe St., where a construction manager said that the piece of aluminum was taken from the site, police said. The construction site is secured by a black gate.  

Police then arrested Rosaly and charged the 57-year-old with theft and trespassing, according to reports.  

According to the police report, Rosaly had also been arrested on April 11, for posessing burglary tools.

While at headquarters, Rosaly admitted to the officer that he did take aluminum from different locations to see it to a scrap yeard on 25th Street in Union City, police said.
