Free Tenants' Rights Workshop Being Held In Jersey City Monday Night

Is the rent too darn high, or do you want to know the laws about eviction in NJ? A nonprofit will host an event Monday in Jersey City.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Social media sites are often filled with Hudson County renters saying their landlord told them to leave because their building was sold, or saying they were given rent increases of more than 10 percent. But many renters don't understand the protections and state and local laws about both eviction and increases.

Local cities and nonprofits are available to help tenants and landlords better understand these complicated laws. And on Monday night, the Waterfront Project, a local legal aid organization, is hosting a seminar on renters' rights.
