Longtime Hoboken Family Pizzeria Says Goodbye On Christmas
A longtime family-owned pizzeria in Hoboken said goodbye on Christmas, but their family owns a second store that will stay open.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken's rental market has claimed a tasty victim.
H & S Giovanni's pizza restaurant, located in the center of busy Washington Street, posted on social media on Christmas that they are closing.
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce our permanent closure on Wednesday December 25th, as we were unable to agree to terms on a new lease," they wrote. "For the past 23 years, it has been our absolute privilege to serve the Hoboken community."

They noted, "As a family-run business we had the pleasure of serving Hoboken together, instilling the values of hard work & community as our family got to grow up working in the pizzeria."

They thanked the Stevens Institute of Technology, up the hill, for being "great neighbors."
They noted that some family members own the popular Imposto's Pizza at 102 Washington St., and would be happy to serve longtime customers. Imposto's, located across from City Hall and around six blocks from the train terminal, serves up pizza, mussels, and other Italian dishes.
Customers were sad about the closure, but pledged to visit Imposto's.
"We’ll really miss you!" wrote someone calling herself Pizza Princess. "Thank you for all of the great meals over the years, and we’ll be sure to keep supporting Imposto’s!"
