Mayor Zimmer Names Former Hoboken Fire Captain Coordinator of Emergency Management
Thomas Malta, current President of the Volunteer Ambulance Corps, has been named the new Coordinator of the Office of Emergency Management.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer has appointed Thomas Molta, a former Hoboken Fire Captain and current President of the Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as the City of Hoboken’s Coordinator of the (OEM) Office of Emergency Management.
Thomas Molta is President of the 100-member Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where he has served for 34 years. Molta has been a EMT in New Jersey since 1980, with 25 years as a supervisor, according to his Linkedin page.
“Mr. Molta has been involved in the emergency response to many major events including Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Irene, the World Trade Center attacks, PATH train crashes, apartment building fires in the 1980’s, and the Henkel Chemical Plant incident in 2002,” Mayor Zimmer added.

Molta also served for 25 years in the Hoboken Fire Department and retired in 2010 as a Fire Captain. He was Captain of the Rescue Company and Engine Company for seven years. He has served as an EMT for the Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center in Secaucus since August of 2012.
