How do you know the star local student?

I am the programming assistant at the Hoboken Public Library, and I met Niki during a library program led by a local teen Girl Scout, where we were learning loom knitting. Niki has been a dedicated patron of the Hoboken Public Library since childhood. Inspired by the teen volunteer sharing their skills, Niki suggested placing crochet hearts around the library to spread kindness. We placed the hearts on our Community Care Shelf, in the book stacks, and gave them to patrons. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing interest in contributing. From this initiative, we established a monthly Crochet Club at the library, led by Niki.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Niki truly deserves recognition as a star student for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and innovation. Through her Hearts to Heart initiative and the successful launch of our Crochet Club, she has become a beacon of positivity in Hoboken. Niki's leadership and dedication have been instrumental in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere at our library. Her ability to lead with empathy, patience, and kindness while teaching others has been truly inspirational. Witnessing someone her age take charge and make such a positive impact has motivated other teens at the library to share their own ideas for programs and community service. Niki has shown that it only takes one person to be a positive example and inspire many. She is a shining example of the difference one person can make in their community.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Niki's leadership extends beyond her peers; she's led programs for adults of all ages, demonstrating her inclusive and giving nature. Her influence is felt throughout our community, inspiring others to get involved and make a difference. Niki's commitment to spreading kindness and her dedication to uplifting those around her make her a truly exceptional individual.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Niki!
