New Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken Outpost Opens In Hudson County

The chain focuses on double-fried chicken. The "remote kitchen" in Hudson County will also serve Korean donuts, bulgogi fries, and kimchi.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A chicken chain has opened its first Hudson County takeout location recently, encouraging patrons to "crunch out loud."

The Union City location of Bonchon, which has several New York City and Bergen County stores, doesn't allow indoor dining, but is open for takeout and delivery in the area. It's located on Kerrigan Avenue.

"Bonchon is a Korean fried chicken restaurant that is known for its double-fried chicken that are hand-brushed with flavorful sauces," said a spokesperson.

Crispy wings and drumsticks are tossed with signature sauces of soy garlic, spicy, and Korean BBQ. The menu boasts sides like Korean donuts, bulgogi fries, and kimchi.

Owner is Seung Kim said, “I am excited to open my first Bonchon and share the deliciousness in a convenient way for residents nearby. Being able to get Bonchon on the go will allow for memories to be made in a faster and flavorful way."

Kim chose to open a Bonchon restaurant because he and his wife have tried every brand, and Bonchon was the best chicken they have had, a spokesperson said.

“When we order from Bonchon, our favorite menu item is the soy garlic wings,” said Kim.

Founded in South Korea in 2002, Bonchon first opened in the U.S. in New York City in 2006.

The brand anticipates growing from 130 to 500 U.S. locations and 1,000 locations worldwide in the next five years.

The Union City location is the first remote location and one of nine open in the area.
