Newark Man Allegedly Forged Prescriptions at Pharmacy

A 46-year-old Newark man was arrested Wednesday.

A 46-year-old Newark man was arrested Wednesday around 7 p.m. at Walgreens in downtown Hoboken for allegedly trying to use forged prescriptions, police said. 

Donnell Smith, allegedly attempted to use two forged prescriptions to obtain two different controlled dangerous substances atWalgreens, police said. 

According to an employee at the Walgreens pharmacy, Smith came into the store around noon on Wednesday, and handed her two prescriptions, both made out to different people, according to the police report.

Upon closer examination, it seemed like the prescriptions were fake, police said, printed on thinner paper than usual. Also, the phone number form the doctor was different that Wallgreens had on file.

When Smith returned around 7 p.m. to pick up the medicine, the employee called the police, according to reports.
