New Jersey Transit will be taking a number of precautionary measures this week to convenience and protect customers from the 90-plus degree heat that is being predicted, according to a release on the agency's website.
At Hoboken Terminal, that means the gates for departing commuter trains will be posted at least 20 minutes in advance so that customers can escape the heat and hop aboard the air-conditioned trains further ahead of their departure times.
NJ Transit is also deploying additional customer service representatives to assist riders and placing bus, rail and light rail crews and equipment on standby so that any breakdowns or power outages that arise because of the heat can be remedied quickly.
