On The Agenda: The Hospital, The Municipal Garage and More
A lot of issues on the table for tonight's agenda

Let's start off with the fun stuff: the City is proposing to rename the corner of Washington and Newark Streets "Carlo's Way," in honor of the 100th anniversary of the (now famous) bakery.
"Carlo's Bake Shop is a Hoboken institution which has both satisfied the sweet tooth of residents and visitors and served as a catalyst to bolster our community's image and local economy," said Mayor Dawn Zimmer in a statement on Wednesday morning.
Earlier this year, Buddy "Cake Boss" Valastro received a proclamation from the Council for his contributions to Hoboken's economy.

Valastro will be celebrating the 100th birthday of the bakery with a block party—on Washington between Newark and First Streets, what will then probably be "Carlo's Way"—on Saturday June 19th.
Toni Tamarazzo, Chairwoman of the Municipal Hospital Authority, will make a presentation in front of the council tonight to talk about the Hoboken University Medical Center. In January it was reported in a transitional memo to Gov. Chris Christie, that the HUMC would close—something officials denied.

One of the hot topics on the agenda—again—is the municipal garage. Although not much is known at this point about the definite location, one of the proposed places is the Pino Property on the West side of town. to express concerns about putting a garage (which will be used by Environmental Services) in a residential neighborhood.
The Department of Transportation and Parking is proposing a resolution to close Sinatra Drive to cars on Sundays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m during June, July, August and September. This was also proposed in 1998. The Council will have to vote in favor of this plan before it can actually happen.
City Council is planning to appoint Judge Michael A. Mongiello to be the chief judge of the municipal court, and to appoint Cataldo F. Fazio as the judge of the municipal court. According to the City's website, Zimmer is still accepting resumes for those two positions.
The Administration subcommittee is proposing to approve the mayor's appointment of Ron Venturi as prosecutor for the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
Council President Peter Cunningham is introducing a resolution to authorize the location of a downtown farmer's market on Tuesdays. The first uptown Farmer's market will start on Thursday. The farmer's market runs through September.
