Play 'Tiny Beautiful Things' Opens At Hoboken's Professional Theater
The play "Tiny Beautiful Things," based on Cheryl Strayed's advice column, will run for several weeks at Hoboken's professional theater.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The play "Tiny Beautiful Things," based on Cheryl Strayed's writings, will run for several weeks at Hoboken's professional theater starting this weekend.
While the performances at Mile Square Theatre began on Feb. 27, official opening night is slated for Saturday, March 1 at 8 p.m. Performances continue through March 23.
The play, adapted by Nia Vardalos, is based on Strayed's role as advice columnist "Dear Sugar" from 2010 through 2012. After she was asked to take over the anonymous role, the on-line column became increasingly popular.

"Strayed used empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles both large and small," notes a description.
Director Kevin R. Free said he chose the play because it felt like healing, "which is something we are all in need of right now. To bring us together and show how we are all connected through how we are feeling ... As commonly seen at a Mile Square production, all four actors are from New Jersey."
