Police: Employee Choked Out in Back of Hoboken Sex Shop

A female employee of an adult entertainment shop on Washington Street was allegedly choked out with a wire in the store's bathroom on the Sunday before last, the Jersey Journal reported.

The woman's ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Peter Rojo, of Union City, has been charged in the attack, which left the woman with temporary vision loss and bruises and abrasions on her arms and neck, police said.

A criminal complaint states that Rojo had been watching the woman while she worked at Romantic Depot, located at 606 Washington St., and proceeded to drag her by her hair from behind the store's counter and into the bathroom.

In the bathroom, Rojo allegedly wrapped a wire around the woman's neck and choked her until she couldn't breathe, according to the complaint.

Hoboken police arrested Rojo at his Union City home Thursday and he appeared in court Friday via video link from the Hudson County Jail. He faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, stalking and terroristic threat in the incident and is being held on $250,000 bail.
