Residents Can Escape Dangerous Heat and Humidity at City Hall Cooling Center

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Hoboken City Hall's ground floor conference room will operate as a cooling center Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for residents who need to escape the suffocating heat that's being predicted.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning from noon to 8 p.m. for Hoboken with temperatures expected to climb into the mid 90s and heat index values predicted to reach 103.

Extra precaution should be taken if you plan to work or spend time outside.

Sprinklers and other water effects are available for cooling off at Church Square Park, Jackson Street Park, Madison Park, Elysian Park, Stevens Park, Pier A, Pier C and Columbus Park.

The city urges residents to check on their neighbors, especially the elderly and those with special needs, who may be particularly susceptible to adverse health effects from the excessive heat.
