Updated 6 p.m.—Some Flooding After Thunder, Lightning and Hail Hit Hoboken in Severe Thunderstorm
Temperature is up to 99 degrees with heat index of 105. The National Weather Service predicts severe thunderstorms beginning after 4 p.m.
UPDATED, 6 p.m.—Relief is here. But it has arrived in the form hail, thunder, excessive rain and thunder.
The National Weather Service predicted a "strong cold front" to come through the area earlier this afternoon. The storm moved through New Jersey earlier this afternoon and was over Hoboken around 4 p.m.

The area around shoprite as well as downtown Harrison Street—between First and Second—experienced some flooding.
If the rain intensity exceeds the pump's capacity, Melli explained, some flooding occurs until the pump catches up. Around 5:30 the rain - while still going - had lessened a little bit.

A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect for Hudson County until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
There's a chance of flooding due to excessive rain. An urban and small stream flood advisory has also been issued for Hudson County. Rainfall could add up to one inch an hour, according to the Weather Service.
Some residents reported shortly after the storm started that electricity "flickered" in their apartments, but was immediately turned back on. Lights also flickered in Hoboken City Hall, Melli said.
The Hudson River was just after low tide on Wednesday afternoon, easing the chance of heavy flooding. (Unlike, when the river was at high tide and worsened the flooding).
Wednesday night's outdoor screening of The Artist was canceled due to the weather.
A heat advisory continues to be in effect for the area until 6 p.m. Wednesday night. Temperatures hover at 100 degrees with a heat index of about 105, the weather service reports.
Seniors and residents with health conditons are advised to stay indoors.
