Sex Assault Victim Warns 'Any Girls In Hoboken' In TikTok Video
A video of a woman saying she was sexually assaulted between Hoboken and Jersey City has elicited responses from officials and police.

HOBOKEN, NJ — After a woman made a TikTok video saying she was sexually assaulted while walking from Hoboken toward Jersey City on Sunday, officials said they're investigating.
TikToker KathleenMarie posted the "PSA to any girls in Hoboken" on Tuesday, with a caption saying, "Stay safe, stay vigilant."
She said that while she was walking home from a bar this past weekend, a man said something to her while she was on the phone with a friend. She turned around and said, "What?"

She said in the video, "He shoved his hand up my skirt and he grabbed me in an incredibly violating way. Me being the person that I am, I don't let things go, so I chased him."
She said she fell and got "road rash." In the video, her face appears to have several bruises.

"I know that I'm a very strong person," she said, "and this really shook me up and kind of made me just want to tell other girls, be safe, no matter how strong you are. Watch your back. Don't walk home alone at night. It's sad that we have to give each other these warnings, but this is the world we live in."
The video was reported on Instagram on Wednesday by the account OnlyinHoboken. The original video got 16,700 "likes" and 8,400 shares. The repost amassed 14,000 views.
The woman also said she had heard that such things were happening in downtown Hoboken.
Patch recently reported that a man on an ebike was arrested on Aug. 31 for touching a stranger's behind on Washington Street. And a man was arrested earlier that month for following a woman in Jersey City and putting his hand up her skirt. Documents indicated that it was the same man who had been sent to prison or his role in a burglary to a corporate apartment rented by rapper 50 Cent.
Police Report
On Thursday, Hoboken Public Safety Spokeswoman Marci Rubin said the woman called police to file a report around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, immediately after the incident happened.
She said the police headed to Newark and Grand Streets.
The on-scene investigation determined that a stranger approached the woman and grabbed her buttocks, Rubin said.
"Hoboken Police believe this case is isolated and it remains under investigation by the Detective Bureau," she said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Officer Jessica Arebalo at ArebaloJ@hobokenpdnj.gov or 201-420-2100 Ext. 3146.
Officials And Candidates Respond
Hoboken 4th Ward City Councilman and mayoral candidate Ruben Ramos issued a statement Wednesday saying, “What happened to this woman is unacceptable, and my heart goes out to her. No one should ever feel unsafe walking in our community. This incident is a reminder that we must take real, concrete steps to make our streets safer, especially for women and vulnerable residents.”
Ramos suggested stronger public safety measures, including improved street lighting, better coordination between Hoboken and Jersey City law enforcement, and increased patrols in "key walking areas during evening hours."
"We must ensure that Hoboken and Jersey City are places where everyone can walk without fear," he said.
Councilwoman Emily Jabbour also responded on Instagram.
