Six Hoboken High School students will compete at the Penn Relays, one of the biggest athletic events of the year.
Track and Field Coach Judy Burrell said it's a great opportunity for the kids, "to run in front of 90,000 people ... and some of the best athletes in the world."
Burrell said that when she was at Hoboken High, she took part in the Relays and was awarded a scholarship because of it.

For the trip to Pennsylvania in late April, the track and field team was awarded $3,000 to pay for travel expenses, the hotel stay and entry into the competition.
The money, however, will not be enough to cover the cost of the meals. While Burrell said she would like to try to raise some more money for the trip, it currently looks like the students will have to pay for their own meals, she said.

The six boys from Hoboken High—none of the girls on the track and field team qualified this year—will leave for Pennsylvania on April 26. Last year, six boys and five girls from Hoboken participated at the Penn Relays, Burrell said.
