St. Patrick's In April For Hoboken's Senior Citizens
Eighth graders at Wallace served Hoboken's seniors a—delayed—St. Patrick's Day dinner. Here are some photos of the meal
The gym at Wallace Primary School smelled like cabbage, potatoes and corned beef and the air was filled with Irish music Wednesday afternoon.
Showing that it's never too late to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Hoboken, eighth graders served the roughly 90 seniors their meals, followed by coffee and tea with cupcakes with green icing. The students received credit for the serving of the meal.
Assemblyman Ruben Ramos stopped by, socializing with many of the members of the community. County Freeholder Anthony "Stick" Romano was there, as well as many Board of Education hopefuls who are gearing up for Tuesday's elections. City Council President Peter Cunningham stopped by, before attending a special zoning board appeal at City Hall.

Sitting Board members as well as candidates mingled with the seniors, some giving out election literature, but mostly just to enjoy a good Irish meal.
Scheduling conflicts prevented the annual dinner from being held during the actual St. Patrick's Day. With orange-white-green balloons outside, one would almost forget we're about a month too late.

Director of Health and Human Services Leo Pellegrini also stopped by, and acknowledged that it's never too late to celebrate the Irish holiday, adding: "There won't be any $2,000 fines at this St. Patty's!"
