Teen Artist Tasha From Hoboken Wins Scholastic Contest: See Winning Work
Tasha, from Hoboken High School, has won national recognition for art. See the winning pieces.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken High School junior Tasha Fu has won recognition for art in a national competition.
Fu was notified recently about winning a Gold Key in the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for the work entitled "Stories in Bloom." The Gold Key is the highest honor at the regional level, representing the top 7 percent of submissions. This means Fu will also compete to receive a national honor later this year.
The work was entered in the Digital Art category.

Additionally, "Balance in My Hands" was awarded Honorable Mention in painting, an acknowledgment of exceptional skill and originality in artistic expression.
Students across the country enter the annual competition, for kids 13 and up in grades 7-12. It's the longest-running competition for kids in that age group, recognizing creative students for more than 90 years.

"Tasha's artistic talent and dedication to the community are truly inspiring," said Hoboken High Principal Robin Piccapietra. "Tasha’s recognition in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is a reflection of her hard work and creativity, and we are incredibly proud to have her represent Hoboken High School in this prestigious program."
Beyond Art for Unity, Tasha serves as the vice president of student government at Hoboken High, founder and president of the AAPI Culture Club, Art Club vice president, and junior captain of the Debate Team.
