Too Hot In Hudson County? Free Bus To Cooling Center All Summer
Hudson County has opened a daytime cooling center with medical help, and individual towns have opened centers during heatwaves. See a list.

HUDSON COUNTY — If your air conditioning broke, your house is too hot, or you just don't have a cool place to go, you can head to a free daytime cooling center in your town or use the county's services.
The county of Hudson announced Friday that it has opened a countywide daytime cooling center with free bus service for summer, particularly for unhoused individuals.
Several Hudson County towns also have designated daytime cooling centers during heatwaves, often at local libraries and senior centers.

The county of Hudson announced on Friday, July 12:
"Today, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy announced the opening of the Cooling Center in Kearny. This location will provide a cool, safe space for unsheltered homeless individuals in Hudson County that seek respite from the excessive heat impacting the area, and to provide medical services for those who experience health conditions exasperated by the heat. The Cooling Center will be active beginning today, July 12th, until September 15th and may be extended if the forecast calls for temperatures above 95 degrees."

"Hudson County is committed to providing the shelter and services our vulnerable populations need to stay cool and safe,” said Hudson County Executive, Craig Guy. “It’s no secret that these dangerous temperatures can result in illness, especially for those with health conditions that are exasperated by extremely hot weather. These locations will provide medical services, food, and a place to escape the heat.”
The daytime Cooling Center is located at the Naval Reserve Facility in the Town of Kearny, will be operated by Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ), and will operate between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Transportation to the Cooling Center in Kearny will be provided from the following locations, and clients will be brought back to Jersey City and Hoboken beginning at 5 p.m.:

A local nonprofit also shared this list of cooling centers in each Hudson County town, but some towns have added more during heat waves, so check with the town or facility before heading over.
