Trespassing Probes Near Hoboken Housing Authority Buildings Lead To Drug Arrests: Police

When the Hoboken police pursued people for trespassing in the Housing Authority neighborhood, several were charged with drug offenses.

HOBOKEN, NJ — When the Hoboken police pursued people for trespassing in the federally subsidized Hoboken Housing Authority buildings recently, several were charged with drug offenses, they said.

At least three people caught trespassing in the area in a two-day period were taken to jail, police said.

On Jan. 24, just before 1:30 a.m., Sgt. Michael Losurdo saw three people on the front steps of a Hoboken Housing Authority building on the 400 block of Marshall Drive, police said.

Then, the three were seen ringing various doorbells, police said.

Officers Nasir Wiley and Daniella Simone conducted a building sweep due to recent complaints of non-residents entering the building to use drugs and sleep in the stairwells, police said.

Other police arrived as backup.

Ricky Weaver, 52, of Jersey City, David Doria, 34, of Jersey City, and Crystal Bent, 30, of Hoboken, were arrested, police said.

Weaver was searched. Police found a push rod, a broken crack pipe burnt on both ends, and a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine, police said.

Weaver was charged with defiant trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of crack cocaine. He was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

Bent was charged with defiant trespassing and hindering apprehension for providing a false name at first, police said. She was released on a summons, police said.

Doria was charged with defiant trespassing and released on a summons, police said. He was also found to have a warrant from Jersey City and given a new court date on that warrant.

The next day, Jan. 25, around 4 a.m., Sgt. Michael Losurdo and Police Officers Carmen Benitez and Nasir Willey were on patrol in the same area, the 400 block of Marshall Drive.

They saw two people leaving a Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA) building who did not live there, police said.

Phillip Realpe, 50, of Hoboken, and Denise Rivera, 32, of Hoboken refused to give officers their names and identification at first, police said.

They were placed under arrest for defiant trespassing, police said.

A search of Rivera turned up several glass cylinder pipes used to smoke or ingest controlled dangerous substances, two blades, and multiple hypodermic needles, police said.

Realpe was found to be in possession of a glass cylinder pipe and a push rod, police said.

They were taken to Hoboken Police Headquarters.

Realpe was charged with criminal trespassing, possession with intent to use, and possession of hypodermic syringes for use of controlled dangerous substances, police said. He was found to have open warrants from North Bergen and Secaucus, police said.

Rivera was charged with criminal trespassing, possession with the intent to use, and possession of hypodermic syringe for use of CDS, police said. She was found to have an open warrant from Hoboken, police said.

Both Realpe and Rivera were taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, police said.
