Turtle Club to Host Retirement Party for Former Rutgers Player

Former Rutgers defensive lineman Eric LeGrand suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed in October 2010 while making a tackle during a game.

The Turtle Club in Hoboken will hold a private retirement party Wednesday for Woodbridge native and former Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, who suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed while making a tackle during a game in October 2010.

LeGrand and notable current and former Rutgers players are expected to attend the event, which will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Admission is $52 and includes one drink and passed appetizers, with proceeds benefiting LeGrand's just-launched organization, the Team LeGrand Foundation, which supports spinal cord injury initiatives.

LeGrand's book, "Believe: My Faith and the Tackle That Changed My Life," will be available for purchase at the event.

Tickets can be reserved online at www.hobokenturtleclub.com or purchased at the door.
