Twenty-Four Public Hoboken Retirees Receive More than $100G Pension

More than 1,200 public retirees in the state receive pensions that are more than $100,000.

Twenty-four former public employees in Hoboken are part of the so-called "$100K" club, receiving more than $100,000 in pension from the state of New Jersey. Hoboken's highest pensions go to former Fire and Police chiefs.

Last year, 1,244 former employees collected more than $100,000 the according to New Jersey Watchdog. This number has increased by 28 percent since 2010, according to New Jersey Watchdog. 

Former Police Chief Carmen LaBruno tops the Hoboken list with $147,429. Former Fire Chief John Cassessa follows closely with a $144,195 pension. LaBruno's successor as police chief, Robert Lisa, collects $135,794.

Former Fire Chief Richard Tremitiedi collects $101,921.

The list ranks three former employees of the Hoboken Board of Education: Former Superintendent Patrick Gagliardi collects $132,242; Former Principal Linda Erbe collects $112,227 and former Brandt Principal Mary Tremitiedi collects $102,003.

Most of the people named on the list are former police officers and firefighters. 

Hudson County Freeholder Anthony Romano, a former police captain, collects $111,678. Former police captain Ed Mecka collects $100,161.
