$5,100 Worth of Manicure Equipment Stolen in Uptown Hoboken

The incident occured on Friday morning in Uptown Hoboken.

An uptown nail salon was burglarized on Friday between 10:30 and 11:40 a.m., according to police reports.

The 48-year-old owner, a Hoboken resident, told police that two auto crave machines—these machines desinfect manicure tools—and a chair were stolen. The machines were worth $5,000 and the chair was worth $100, according to the report.

The owner of Metropolitan Nails on Thirteenth Street, which is currently under construction because it's being expanded to the place next door, had placed the two machines in front of the store to dry, police said.

One employee of the nailsalon said he saw a man, about six feet in height, walk into the store to use the bathroom, police said. While the man was inside, a black pick up truck was parked outside the store, police said. Two other men—one 5-foot-4 and the ohter 5-foot-5 according to the nail salon's employee—were in the truck.

A motor vehicle stop was set up at Second and Harrison Streets to try and find the equipment, police said. While a black pick up truck was stopped, according to police, none of the manicure equipment was found.
