Bicyclist Assaults Woman in Downtown Hoboken

A 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted on Thursday night late.

A 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown man on a bicycle on Thursday night at Second and Jefferson Streets, around 11:30 p.m., police said. 

The woman, a New York City resident, told police she was walking east on Second Street, when she heard a bicycle coming, according to police reports. 

The woman said she heard the bike come "dangerously close" to her, and as the bicycle came in contact with her legs, she turned around, according to reports.

The man on the bike then placed his hands between her legs and touched her over her pants and kept his hand there for several seconds, police said. 

According to the report, the man told the victim "I fell there," to make the assault look like an incident.

After the woman began to scream, the man drove off on his bike. 

Although the woman couldn't get a good look at the alleged assailant, she told police he was about 6 feet with short hair and a slight accent, according to reports. 

While patrolling the streets later that night, two officers believed they had found the man. After the victim was asked to come down to identify the man, she told police it wasn't him. 

No arrests were made. 

This is not the first such incident in Hoboken.
