Water Main Break Repairs Complete In Hoboken, But Impacts WIll Continue, City Says

The city gave updates on water pressure and traffic on Wednesday night after repairs to a 36-inch water main in Jersey City were completed.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Repairs to a 36-inch water main near the Jersey City/Hoboken border are complete, the city said in an alert just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday — but Hoboken residents should still boil water for now. The water company will be flushing fire hydrants to stabilize pressure, the city said.

Because of the flushing, residents may see low or no water pressure in the near future, the city said.

"Despite these efforts, there may still be fluctuations in water pressure, which can cause future water main breaks as the system stabilizes," the city noted.

The company said Wednesday morning that there may be low water pressure throughout Hoboken, and in Jersey City's Newport and Harborside areas, which are near the waterfront.
