Woman Seen Ingesting Drugs In Hoboken Bar, Assaults Cops: Police

A woman was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest after bar staff saw her with drugs, Hoboken police said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A Bronx woman was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and drug possession last month after bar employees told Hoboken police they saw her ingesting a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Kiala Donald, 26, was arrested after 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 at a bar called Metropolis at 96 River St., police said.

Police said that officers responded to reports of a disorderly woman.

When they arrived, bar employees told police they saw Donald ingesting a controlled dangerous substance. She was told she needed to be evaluated by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps before she could leave, police said, "due to her condition."

"When officers tried to assist, Donald lunged at one, attempting to hit the officer," police said. "When she was told she was under arrest she resisted and after being handcuffed, kicked one of the officers in the thigh."

Police searched her and found a small bag containing a white powdery crystalized substance believed to be cocaine, they said.

She was taken to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, possession of
a controlled dangerous substance, and disorderly conduct.

She was released from custody, police said.
